W.Va. residents sue DuPont over zinc plant contamination
...Now 10 property owners are suing DuPont, one of the world's largest chemical makers, and several other companies they claim ruined their homes and property values, and put their health at lifelong risk.

DuPont spill fouls Delaware River
DuPont Co.'s Edge Moor plant has reopened as the company investigates a leak that allowed more than 1,000 pounds of an acid-forming chemical to escape into the Delaware River, a company official said this morning.

Chemicals in non-stick pans may retard babies' growth...
As the company continues to insist there are no harmful effects related to PFOA, two recent studies found that it is "retarding babies' growth and brain development," reports The Independent of the UK .
"The studies – from the United States and Denmark, both published in the past month – found that babies with increased levels of the chemical in their umbilical cords were born smaller and with reduced head sizes. Though the changes were small, reductions in weight and brain development at birth have been associated with health problems throughout life....
"The studies, published in the prestigious journal Environmental Health Perspectives, are important because they measure effects on people, and suggest that PFOA is damaging at far lower levels in the blood than had been realised."...Read More

LaFleur family sues DuPont over July death at plant

The family of Lonnie LaFleur, the worker who lost his life last month while extracting a heat exchanger at the Dupont plant in Orange, Texas, has filed a wrongful death suit....
Even though the investigation is still ongoing, LaFleur's benefactor, Debra Lynn Stevens LaFleur, is not waiting for OSHA's findings.
She claims both Turner and Dupont De Nemours negligently caused his death, filing a wrongful death suit with the Orange County District Court on Aug. 16....Read More |
